Easy techniques.

Giles and the Puppet case parade - Giles (supporting)
Having Giles as a supporting character can be useful for the smarts but even more useful for the puppet cases he can bring into play. The first chance you get use his power to draw a puppet case. Then on the following turns draw a couple of smarts enhancing cards to create some back up smarts incase they are needed for a challenge and he's busy getting puppet cases. You can miss the "smarts boost" part out if you draw some smarts or you don't have a smarts challenge coming up but either way within a few turns you'll be a card drawing machine.

Set-up techniques.

These are more specific and require a little bit of card hoarding to set up. Obviously these are dangerous because they take up space in your hand and if you take a long while to find all the cards needed then you'll lose, and besides you might end up having your hand attacked anyway (clumsy fingers, manacles, etc) So just be on the look out for these opportunities, don't try and get into them. Much.

Slayer Suicide Squad - Buffy or Kendra as Main characters
Tool these gals up with a "Giles Mobile" and some fighting gear ("Watcher Training" "Stake & Crossbow" etc) and launch at your opponent's hive of activity. Kendra is useful for this because you wont lose any destiny points if lose a fight and Buffy has some great Buffy-only fighting cards, Confrontation being a good one to have allowing you to fight straight away (use "been there killed that" for Kendra, or have both in a Buffy deck for a good chance of multiple slaying)
This can be a very effective technique to bust up important challenges at the last minute but as you are using your main to do it it's a little risky.

Dead guy walking - Universally good
The idea of this one is to distract your opponent with your use of enhancing companions/minions. Lily's "extra Destiny Points for Buffy" card text and Darla's "vampire boosting" text makes them viable targets. Lily makes your opponent think you are running a challenge deck. When the strong characters come over and expect you to stunt double for Lily use the opportunity to run over to their now vulnerable side (movement boosters help a LOT here). It's a similar principle for Darla, her boosting of vampire butt kicking means your opponent will be wanting her out of the way. There are a lot of other characters like this (extra card enablers such as "Joyce Summers" and refreshers such as "Blayne Mall") but Lily and Darla are the most likely to get the reaction you want.
